Where does your collagen come from?
Most collagen comes from cow (bovine) hides. While the packaging may say “grass-fed”, much of the bovine used for collagen is imported from South America, which implies critical and mass deforestation. Our collagen comes from sustainably-sourced 100% wild-caught Alaskan pollock (fish) and is processed in a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) approved facility (MSC is an independent non-profit organization that sets standards for sustainable fishing). Our collagen is hydrolyzed, which means it is odorless, flavorless, and completely dissolves in hot and cold liquid.
Why do I need to take Vitamin C with collagen?
Vitamin C helps increase cellular collagen absorption. There are two amino acids (proline and lysine) that require Vitamin C to synthesize. If you don't have enough Vitamin C in your daily diet, these amino acids will not be absorbed into your cells and you will not experience the repair and regenerative benefits of our collagen. In each serving of our drink mixes, there is 100% of Daily Vitamin C in the form of superfood Camu Camu. If you use our unflavored Marine Collagen, you need to add Vitamin C into your diet. We prefer a natural form of Vitamin C (ie. berries) vs. synthetic and corn derived ascorbic acid.
Can I cook with Cofo Marine Collagen?
We've internally tested our collagen up to 475 degrees. We do not recommend frying or cooking with our product at or above these temperatures.
What is the shelf life of Cofo Provisions products?
All Cofo Provisions will expire in 18 months from the time it was made. Each product contains an expiration date and lot number for your reference. When Cofo Provisions is stored in a cool, dark area away from moisture, an unopened bag will last until the expiration date. Although not required, we like to store our Cofo in the refrigerator to keep the powder at it's freshest.
Does your product contain any Wheat/Gluten/Soy/Dairy/Nuts/Fish/Corn?
Our Cofo mixes which have marine collagen contain fish (our collagen is derived from 100% wild-caught Alaskan Pollock). All products are free of wheat, gluten, soy, corn, and dairy. Our product is made in a facility that also processes gluten, soy, corn, dairy and wheat.
